Verizon is launching a new TV plan that lets its FIOS customers choose channel bundles to add to its standard package for $65 a month, reports Reuters.
In addition to the 36 channels available in the fixed package like CNN, HGTV and AMC, Verizon Custom TV subscribers can add on any two bundles of channels grouped by genre, such as sports and kids’ entertainment.
These can be switched every 30 days, and additional packages are available at $10 each. Verizon offers seven bundles in all.
It’s not exactly a la carte programming, but it does let you choose what you’re paying for to some extent. Verizon is no doubt under pressure from rivals like Sling TV — which offers a basic channel set at $20 and additional bundles at $5 each — to offer consumers more options.
New and existing customers can sign up for Verizon Custom TV via the company’s site on April 19.
